The Black Girl Speaks movement first celebrated Freedom Speaks Day on July 13, 2016 to honor Sandra Bland and all who've fallen unjustly at the hands of police or government agencies. Each year, on the date that Sandra Bland transitioned, we honor our fallen warriors who lost their lives as a tragic consequence of the criminilization of Black and Brown bodies. This year, as with previous years, we are also focusing on our mental wellness and addressing the trauma we face just be living in a corrupt system of oppression. BGS, Productions Inc. is sponsoring the therapy of Freedom Speaks Day participants and hosting a private screening of HBO's documentary, "Say Her Name" in separate events in three different cities. BGS, Inc. and all of its affiliates will be responsible for the payment of the initial therapeutic services with the assigned licensed practitioners listed below, but any further services scheduled will be the financial responsibility of the participant. BGS, Inc. holds no liability or responsibility for the services rendered. The featured practitioners are listed as facilitators on the site for Freedom Speaks Day, but they do not represent BGS, Inc. or any of its affiliates.   Therapy has been documented to improve overall wellbeing, but there are no guaranteed outcomes or resolutions.

Join us for a FREE private screening of HBO's documentary, "Say Her Name," dissecting the life and death of activist, Sandra Bland while in police custody. The private viewings will be held in the homes of BGS movement members. After the viewing, we will have a brief discussion about the incidents leading to her death and how we as a community can heal from such traumatic incidents.

“There is something very big that’s been weighing on my mind.

A seed that I feel like God has truly planted in my life. Work that He has set for me to do, a message that He wants me to get out.”

EACH EVENT IS SPONSORED BY BGS, INC., BUT PAYPAL CHARGES A MINIMUM OF $.01 FOR USAGE.

Dr. Christina M. Grange is a clinical psychologist and owner of The Fern Center for Life, LLC in Atlanta Georgia.  Her ultimate goal is to empower all clients to recognize, understand, and adaptively manage life’s challenges and opportunities in the context of a larger culture that often contributes to feelings of powerlessness.   Her clinical training focused on the well-being and optimal development of young people in the context of their families.  That work continues and has expanded to focus on (a) empowering Black women to navigate their various roles, responsibilities, and pressures with the ultimate goal of fully realizing their personal power and (b) promoting adaptive co-parenting among parents who struggle to find their way to cooperative parenting, but are simultaneously mutually committed to their child/children.

Dr. Grange attained her undergraduate and master’s degrees from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University where she obtained her Doctorate in clinical psychology.  Her post-doctoral work was completed at the University of Georgia’s Center for Family Research.  In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Grange is an Associate Professor at Clayton State University.
