Talitha began her professional career in education as a teacher, principal, curriculum developer, and now as an educational consultant specifically for traditional and homeschool parent educators. Her culturally-sound, holistic curriculum, Raising Imhotep Scholars of Excellence (RISE), incorporates healing practices for children to develop them in every aspect. She began the Black Girl Speaks (BGS) Movement with a one-woman show that promotes the power of healing by SPEAKing of our traumas in November of 2005, and has since launched a global community of Black women who use their voices to heal themselves and each other. The "Living in the Light" blog and Facebook page began as a real-time documentation of Kandace's journey from stress to peace, and has evolved into a source of daily inspiration for over 22,000 across 40+ countries.
After nine months of publicly sharing her journey, while being relentless in her daily spiritual practice, she experienced a powerful spiritual awakening. She went from living in fear, doubt, worry, and stress to complete inner peace. Her greatest passion has become assisting others on the journey to unshakable peace, while being fully transparent about what it takes to get there. Kandace is a Certified Spiritual Life Coach, Meditation Instructor, Reiki Practitioner, Energy Healer, and Sound Therapist. She helps others start and sustain a daily spiritual practice that guides them From Stress to Peace.
Zamanta was born in Panama, by a Trinidadian mother, but raised in Brooklyn, NY. She started her career as a corporate interior designer. While in the pursuit of her Black Belt in Karate, she discovered yoga in 2002. She became an E-RYT 200 Yoga Instructor full time and that has been her life's work ever since.
Zamanta received her certification from the honorable Swami Brahmavidyananda. Her Hatha yoga format comes from her unique rhythm and energy combined with years of practicing a variety of yoga styles: Ashtanga, Anusara, and Vinyasa. No class is the same, but each class focuses on alignment, movement, strengthening and having fun. Her intentions for our time together at the BGS Healing Retreat are to "work with both the physical and the mental, depending on your needs, to bring more balance into your life."
